There is this weird bug thing that I just somehow only found today, looks to be some kind of worm but I am no professional on these kind of things so I would appreciate any heads up. Who knows how long this thing was In my tank! My biggest worry is if it is a pest and if I need to take it out!

Possibly a bobbit worm but I'm not sure. Bad news if true.

I’ve done a little bit of research I don’t have a solid answer but all I’ve seen is that this monstrosity is bad news I am going to try to dip the live rock that I think it lives in and hopefully try to get it out

It is a eunicid worm

I personally don’t see any fangs that make it for sure a bobbit. A bobbit is just a type of eunicid.

Agree Eunicid (same group as bobbit worm). You can try a simple trap made from soda bottl (2 ltr) and bait with a piece of shrimp

I tried that trap, and then it did not work. So I took the rock that I believed it was living in out after it killed my one of my new orange storm clown fish :(. I broke the rock up and put the part with a Coral on it in the tank, and there it was, way longer than I thought it was. Had to be around 12 inches. Man these things are nasty. And now my clown fish is lonely:(

Man I've had one that looks exactly the same as this. 100% bobbit worm. I've watched the two black jaws pop out and grab pieces of dead prawn, insane speed. It's never touched anything living and I've had it for 4 years haha. I'd imagine it's longer than this one by now too. I wonder if mines a particular type that feeds on decomposing food... Or if that terrible day is still coming ... Maybe I just keep him well fed enough not hunt.
