What is this white wriggling thing?

So randomly watching my tank and noticed this white floating thing. Closer inspection I watched it as it wriggled really quickly to the surface and back down and back up again before catching it. Not the best quality video but what the heck is this? My best best it is from the NSW that I am using however its filtered through a 5 micron sock before been used.https://youtu.be/eXGTRNoTGhI

Its a little hard to see but judging from its movement, it must be a pod. Most probably amphipod.

Hi I’m sorry but just to double check, what do you mean by NSW, the only thing popping in my head is New South Wales. I’m suspecting some kind of sandhopper (which is a type of shore dwelling amphipod) since it runs out of water with ease.

Nevermind, a quick double check, i realised u meant natural sea water. I’m not sure if that amphipod was already in your tank or came with the nsw.

Yeah ocean water sorry. I got rid of it anyways was the only one I could see and have seen. It was like a worm more than anything but couldn't tell without going under a microscope.

its an amphipod, i'd put it in they are good cleaners and live food for basically everybody. I use NSW too and i doubt it came in there

Ah, reading more carefully helps. I figured by NSW you meant nutriseawater but I know its also natural sea water. If you're taking it straight from the ocean, 100% it could have amphipods. I pulled some ulva out of the east river in New York (its disgusting, the river not the ulva) for my 4g and it was covered in similar looking amphipods. mine almost looked like itsy bitsy mantis shrimp with similar "punching" claws

natural water *might* be a source but don't underestimate snails as taxis for amphipods and other critters
