Some kind of white crusting coral? Not sure

I think I see what you're asking about - the coral skeleton looks abnormally white/puffy instead of cream/just skeletal right?

Exactly. They are covered in a layer of white, somewhat transparent layer of something.

I see it, but I have no idea what it is.

It's not any sponge species that I know of - it's very uniform (which would be abnormal for most sponges), and only a handful of sponges I know of encrust that close to the surface of the substrate; most are much puffier/stick out much further. Fungi are extremely rare in our aquariums, so I doubt it's that, but I can't totally rule the possibility out.

Personally, I'd let it grow out and see what happens with it.

I got the rock from Gulf live rock, very happy with it, I will do what you suggested, leave it alone see what it does.

Theres no blue tint or tint of any color. Just white somewhat transparent. It seems to swell or get thicker when the lights come on so it reacts to light

Im not sold on sponge but may be tissue or slime that often attaches to dead rock and pores may still have life within

It did not smell like rock with dieing areas. I did the overnight shipping and the rock had no odor whatsoever> I have gotten rock before that had die off and smelled like low tide
