Pics under white lighting would help with identification although purple gorg is most common. Gorgonian respond to light and are open fully when exposed to light known as photosynthetic/photosynthesis. They also require moderate to medium water flow current and feed off occasional feedings of phytoplankton
 
Interesting coloration (not too common around here anyway). Likely a golden sea rod (still a gorgonian) and looks pretty good and happy to me.

It came on one of the pieces of live rock from GulfLiveRock, and its been in the tank abuot 30 hours or so now.

There's a smaller one too on the opposite side of the tank, with just one branch, and looks exactly the same.
