What is this?

Hello I'm very new to saltwater aquariums and have managed to kill 2 lion fish and a clownfish. Anyways, this thing popped up a couple of weeks ago and I'm not sure what it is.

. Hopefully this uploaded correctly. But my saltwater guy here thought it was some type of leather coral? It's in between two rocks in my tank. Any help would be appreciated thank you in advance

It looks like it could be a Candy Cane. Two Lionfish and a clown? How long has your tank been running?

4 months? It cycled when I first set it up. Now it's just acting weird. What's a candy cane??

55 gal reef octopus protein skimmer with live rock. I have a few inverts and 2 fish.
