Got new lights in about a week ago and I see this growing on my dead Rock .

If you could circle or use a point of direction as to the item you need ID'd that would help.

Just a guess based on the fact you used dry base rock then it's most likely diatoms, or cyano or a common marine algae found in cycling systems.

Did you add any live rock, sand, ......at all? It could just be a piece of debris from inside the dry rock.

I have about 10 pounds of dead rock and 50 pounds on top of it . This rock is all the way at the top of my live rock nowhere near it . And yes I used live sand as well
