This was in the water after a coral dip on some new coral. Anyone know what it is?

... except some species of amphipods prey upon copepods. And copepods (especially tisbe) is the food of choice for most dragonets.
Couldn't you just bypass this by purchasing a dragonette that does in fact eat other foods besides pods? I don't know about you, but I wouldn't settle for anything else.

IMO; while it is advantageous to buy a dragonet that is pellet/frozen trained for supplemental feeding, that is no substitution for a healthy pod population as their staple diet. Their metabolisms are very high so they require a constant source of food to pick at. They spend all day long hunting for pods to eat. It's just what they do.
It's probably been done before already, but that would be an interesting experiment IMO. Keeping a dragonette long term in a sterile tank. No micro fauna, just prepared foods only.
I actually QT'd a pair of green mandarins feeding only Nutramar ova for 6 weeks. They were skinny but survived, and are still going strong 4+ years later. I fed probably 3-4x daily. Nutramar ova is a godsend as a supplemental food for wild caught mandys, I wish I could get it again. :mad:

How long has it been since the nutramar was available and what is everyone using for a substitute?
