What is this

I have no idea what this stuff is. I have had green hair algae out breaks before but it doesn't look like this. This stuff is just a big ball and isn't all over the tank like green hair algae.

It grew out of a rock I just got. Should I remove the rock? Will it take over my tank?

Yes, remove it. It will spread.

If it's strictly on that rock itself couldn't you just manually remove what you can first and then pour a little peroxide on the remainder? Getting rid of the rock altogether or bleaching the heck out of it just sounds a little extreme to me. I'd definitely pursue other options first. GL.

Mine seemed to be in control for a awhile, then BAM!, it was everywhere.
