image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg Was in the lfs today and saw this lavender tang with a white spot above his fin. What is it? It was not on him yesterday. This the dreaded Ick? Sorry photos taken with phone

It could be ick, but it looks too large to be. The pictures arn't the best for diagnosis. Lymph does usually start on the fins, but this could be lymph as well even with it's placement on the body. Hard to tell for sure.... sorry.

Hey thank you. Second yea I thought the same thing of it being too big to be ick. I tried the best I could with my phone to get a good picture. The fish doesn't look or act ill as I have been checking on it everyday. But the ten to twenty mins I am there doesn't mean anything. So I'm going to go back tomorrow with lymph what would be the signs I wil be looking for?

And here is one last photo of it. Hopefully it's better for u to see sorry my phone was all I had plus I don't know how well it would go over if I brought the Nikon out and had a photo shoot in the store

Lymph generally looks like cauliflower. It starts out small and can be mistaken for ick at first. You know it's lymph when it starts getting bigger instead of dropping off to multiply like ick does. It will go away on its own with good water quality, low stress and healthy food.

So with a good quarantine this fish will be ok? I'm looking to buy it but I don't want to go into a loseing battle. I will look more into lymph thank you for your time

I can't promise that based on these pictures. If it's lymph, and nothing else shows up, then yes.

I agree, looks too large to be a parasite. Could be Lympho or even just a cut that has gotten infected. We would need closeup pics of the affected area to be more sure.

Right sorry I'm horrible at explaining stuff that's what I did mean tho if it is lymph it's not a loseing battle like velvet or anything like that and when I go to the lfs tom to check him out again I will take a better picture for u guys. If the spot is not there tomorrow is that a good sign or is it like ick and just because it goes away does not mean that it is gone? Thanks again guys I'm just trying to do the right thing this time around and not just pick fish cause I want them no matter their condition but I'm taking my time and studying them for a week or two in the store to see they are ok I don't want any more dead or sick fishies. Thanks again
Justin

If it's lympho it will still be there tomorrow.

great fish! I have one in QT now myself. Did you QT this fish when you got it? Might be best to get him back in QT for further observation and whatever treatment that e might need.
