I am new to reef keeping. I rescued the system you see in my avatar from the trash dump, the tall rectangle was the filter. can anyone please tell me how to put this back together and plumb it back to the main tank.

Hi there. I wouldn't use a tank from the trash if you want to do coral. The last owner might have used chemicals that could be absorbed into the silicone and cause hige problems. I'd wait for a petco $1/gallon sale and start new. Good luck!!

Welcome to the R2R community!
Based just on the picture I see I am not sure if that will work out.
Might take some creativity

Welcome to R2R! I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking at here. Can you take a few better pictures? Maybe of each tank separately?

Welcome to R2R. I agree, a couple more picture and tha would help sort things out.

Welcome to R2R! I'd be leery of anything I found in the trash, there may be a reason for it.;)

Wow some turned a chair into a stand..... :)

IF the side tank was the filter was the sump it should have included the over flow and return pump/tubing.
Kinda looks like there is tubing in the tank could google sump system to see how that works.

If you serious..I think that side tank could make a great top off tank an ATO.... but as sump not so much.
Id aim to find a free larger tank as a display...

I have used am using trashed tanks in my system. DO want to Seriously clean and water test them, but one doesnt Have to buy all new.
