I'm freaking out. Today I got home from school, enjoyed my fish, then left for 3 hours in my workshop then came back and saw this on my yellow eye kole. I just added him to the display 2 weeks ago and he's active and nothing's strange about him behavior wise. It doesn't seem like ick or velvet so I'm not really sure what's happening. He's eating fine and I haven't made any changes to the tank besides usual maintenance

Possible that it is a bite mark from something else. I came home to my blue eye Kole tang having a similar mark. Then I noticed the mark looks very very similar to the lip shape of my huge starry blenny. They tend to go at each other a lot

For livestock I have a sailfin tang, lieutenant tang, Blenny, domino damsel, 2 clownfish, pajama fish, 3 peppermint shrimp, some crabs and snails. I'm not sure if something is hurting him. Ever since I added the lieutenant tang his been acting like the boss of the tank. How did you tang do after it? Did he act weird and did he heal up nice or is it scarred?

That could be an injury, certainly. You can do one of two things. You can wait and watch... while your waiting it's a good idea to add vitamins like Selcon or Vitachem to his food to help his immune system out a little. Your hoping it heals up on it's own and doesn't get infected.
The other thing you can do is start antibiotics in his food. Though I think it's a bit premature to do that. My advice is to wait for a few days and see how it does.

He acted perfectly normal and no scaring. Now at the beginning of the tank, the tang was there first and I transferred my big wrasse from the other tank, the tang beat the crap out of the wrasse. He had 3 big spots of scales missing and there were even scales floating around the tank. (That was 10 months ago or so) so the blue side fairy wrasse has healed up orange spots on one side. Haha

It looks to me like he got cut on a rock or possibly stung by a coral. Nem sting is possible as well if you have one of those. And I'd keep a close eye on that Domino Damsel and crabs too depending upon which kinds you have.

Lol "lieutenant" the tang (lieutenant tang) is hiding in his little Rock hole on the bottom right lol!
I'm about to add my Atlantic blue tang back in the tank soon.

I've noticed my Tangs like to be a little rough sometimes but they play a good bit Anyway lol

I've been focusing more on the tank since I have time off and so far I've seen what I think was a "positive" injury (hear me out). So when I added the lieutenant tang and kole together, my sailfin was the boss of the tank. The first day sailfin had his sails up and acted like boss but over the week they all got along and the lieutenant tang became boss. At the time I noticed only the yellow eye kole didn't eat at feeding time, he would hide in a cave and wouldn't eat. All the other fish were pigs, and after everyone was done eating he would go back to swimming and grazing. Ever since he got the injury (which btw looks like it's healing back to the normal scale pattern, he still hides when I stick my baster with food and once he sees the shrimp, he slowly comes out and eventually joins the crew. So now I'm not worried about him with eating anymore and the other tangs don't seem to be bullying him anymore
