What is This??

Noticed a couple of these guys in our tank today. Not sure what it is and whether it's beneficial or detrimental. Looks like some kind of snail or conch or something?

Looks like Nassarius Snails. Good scavengers.

Could they have hitched a ride on our new live rock? We have another type of snail in our tank that we bought, starts with an"A", the name escapes me.

Yes, they could have hitchhiked in. They can also reproduce in an aquarium.

Nassarius are great if you have a sand bed. They are good scavengers and detritus eaters. You'd be amazed how fast a small group of Nassarius Snails will clean a sand bed. It's also a good reason not to keep them if you have a sand sifting starfish.
