New tank, new to saltwater. I'm thinking it's not something I want, but want to confirm before I get rid of something beneficial. Also having a small lice like creatures on the glass (can't get a photo of) Probably 100-200 in each corner of the tank. Tank has been going nearly a month with live rock and live sand. Added CUC last weekend. Have been in a good ranges since the first week (ammonia now at .25, at 0 last weekend, nitrites at 0ppm and nitrates at 5 ppm) additionally wife and kids are dying to add fish but I'm trying to hold them off as long as I can. When would it be safe to add? I mistakenly did the shrimp ammonia booster the second day but now know I probably shouldn't have since I had live rock with obvious living things on it (feather dusters, mushroom, star fish) the living things have lived and even thrived now. Had an ammonia spike but it leveled off. Testing with API which I now know can be inaccurate but I test every other day and seems to be going along the "proper" cycling protocol. Any wisdom will be greatly appreciated.

Like salty said, might be a spaghetti worm...
Does it have a bunch of tentacles squiggling around from a little hole in the sand?

Also, what are your params?
Since you started with live rock and sand, your cycle probably finished weeks ago, if you even had one...

You can probably stock now, start slow though...
Just a fish for now, give it a few weeks before adding any others

Not really. It has a body the size of a pencil eraser and fleshy. The base has roots that go into the sand (only around the base perimeter and not from the very bottom) but they don't move even when tapped. They don't really seem like worms but I really don't know. Params seem good .25 ammonia (possibly faulty reading) 0 nitirites and 5 ppm nitrates. Had some green hair and brown algae so I got a CUC and they took care of that problem quickly.
