Wassup guys, im in my third week of cycling my tank and im experiencing a brown bloom like algae. It is easily cleaned out when i wipe it with my fingers but it looks very bad. Is this normal for a pretty new tank? (3 weeks old) It is on the sand, glass, but specially on the live rock.

Hi
I am quit new too in the hobby
And all I can say is my short personal case
I had my live rocks like that when cycling

And I have done nothing

After that brown color, it became more light almost getting light green

Now it's full with pink coralline witch is good from what I am told

So your tank is cycling and going through all this stages and changes :-)

But I got worried also :-)

I was told not to have full lights to much time so algae didn't spread and grow

But wait for more experienced opinions

Like I said this is my short experience

Completely normal. Part of the "uglies" and will go away in the next few weeks. Don't worry about manually trying to clean it other than off the glass. A clean up crew in a few weeks will take care of what remains after the diatom period passes.
