I saw this weird white thing attached to my rock. Any ideas of what it is?

There are also some weird trails in the sand next to it.
Also, my nassarius snails are all crawling around near it, I don't know if that helps.

How fast did it grow. When in doubt, get it out;)

I'd bet it's a sponge.
If you poke it, does it move?
Diatoms and sponges both like the same thing to grow. So sponge blooms Esp pineapple sponges are common in new tanks.

It doesn't react when I poke it. Does that mean its a sponge?

If it is, I might keep it.

...I'll name him spongebob.

I would keep it, good filter feeder. Won't hurt anything.

A little better pic and if you do googling and maybe pinch a strand of it for texture to help the Id.

I don't also leave it beacuse id rather have sponge than diatoms.

Don't have a camera available right now, but it feels soft and fuzzy.

sorry, I don't understand.
Diatoms and sponges both consume silicates to build their structures.
I would rather have sponges bloom and pull the silicates out than diatoms.
