Looking for some advice/answers. I have had water in the tank for a little over a month. I started with dry rock, which I bleached prior to, and live sand. I made sure there was no bleach on the rock afterwards. I put a shrimp in the water to start the cycle. I was getting 0 for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates using the an API test kit. I then started to ghost feed with pellets and mysis periodically but not everyday. I still have yet to have an ammonia spike and still reading 0 for nitrites and nitrates. I am also testing ammonia with a Red Sea kit and also getting 0. At one point the API kit might have shown .25 but if it did the color was debatable. Also the original shrimp and pellets get a weird milky white film over them while breaking down. I have never seen this and was wondering if anyone knew what it is? On the shrimp the film was about a half inch thick and on the pellets it might be 1/8 to a 1/4 inch thick.
