Possibly a ball anemone

+1 had 2 appear several months ago, i believe i mistakenly killed 1 doing some maintenance, other one i think lost a battle with the pocilopora it was near and disappeared. They dont really spread like crazy, think they are technically a type of Pseudocorynactis somewhere between anemone and corals, the taxonomy is kinda hazy on the genus.

Are they reef safe?

For the most part yes. Some consider them a pest, but if they're kept in check they're fine. I've had two in my tank for almost three years yet and they haven't multiplied and they leave everything alone. If they do prove to be a problem you can remove them :)

Interestingly, There is a larger species that can eat fish and inverts. Think the little guys eat Plankton and floating organics.

Agree a ball anemone, Corynactis it' a corallimorph so its in with all the order with all the other shrooms.

Kill it now, I had one destroy my favorite ricordea by growing under it and stinging it. The poor ricordea is sitting in my sump and I hope he will grow back some day.

Ball nem. Mixed experiences.

Great looking tank. :)

I've got some. I fed mine some krill and overnight the base/column turned reddish and under blue LEDs they have some neon green spots on the oral disk. Pretty cool IMO, but I'd still separate them into a corner if possible...just in case
