if it is goniopora anyway to know if its photosynthetic?

its not galaxea, they don't retract polpys like this thing does and it lack the glalxea skeletal structure. Alveopora might be it, i haven't been able to find a pic of one with such tiny polyps. I guess tommorrow I'll try to count how many tenetcles each polyps has.:nerd:

I'm pretty sure it's a turbinaria species just cut into a frag. Thats what it looks like to me anyway. I would guess a turbinaria peltata.

man oh man, my fav species. it is a cyphastrea japonica. at least 95% sure it is. after collectin so so many diff kinds of cyphastreas and leptastreas, it seems very similar to the japonica. hope im right! haha

This is a close up of my leptastria

How long have you had it? It definately needs to color up if it's the japonica, nice pieces when they are fully colored.

Its hard to tell from the pics but my cyphastrea never pulls its polyps in below the rest of the body that is why I thought it was something else too.

He does have tyree japonica, so I doubt he'd buy another one. My cyphastrea never pulls it's polyps in like that either Tanked.

Joe,
Get a pic with it in the tank when it's happy or ask Tomasz what it is. ;)
