I was doing a water change today and notice a bunch of brownish red specks in the cup I was using never had the issue before. Is something growing on the top layer of my water column? You'll have to zoom in.

I zoomed all the way in and still couldn't identify it. Could see them, but not identify them. Probably need a closer pic to begin with.
Do you have any surface agitation ?It's only on the top layer of the tank. I'm curious if it's brine shrimp, from time to time I see little shrimp like creatures floating around the tank. But no food or anything other than 2 peppermint shrimp a couple crabs and a few snails have entered this tank. I finished cycling this tank about 3 week's ago, just been testing and getting rid of the couple pest that came with my live rock. Taking it slow...

Have you ever noticed that sometimes you can see a film in the corners of the tank? Sometimes the waves push the film to a corner and I can't escapeYeah, I do have a issue with my skimmer blowing micro bubbles into my return not sure if that may be the problem? And I have a glass lid I use above the tank but pull it off periodically for a couple hours.

Thoes are organics. I have my tank set up to where there is virtually zero agitation. Water just flows into my over flow and it does a great job at surface skimming. All my flow is below the surface.
