If you look between the branches of this dead coral, there is something that looks like red flower petals.

Any ideas?

It moves around with the current but holds it's structure

Any way if getting g a closer pic? Maybe a macro? Even zooming in I am having a hard time making out details

Try this.

You can see the bottom pedal flutter a couple times. It's about the size of a pencil eraser.

Almost looks like a red bubble algae. I attribute the flutter to flow. I noticed similar movement in the surrounding areas of the dpcoral skeleton.
But, just to get a few more eyes on this... #reefsquad

Yes. It is not moving on it's own. Flow is moving it. The petals are flat like a flower.

Red Dragons Breath

I agree - I've kept dragonsbreath for over a year now - sort of. Lil sprouts just like that form in my tank in high flow areas (Overflow baffles, powerheads, top of the aquascape). Some herbies in the tank love it - they chow down on it pretty quickly, but I always see it reemerge from time to time. Here is a picture of exactly what I'm talking about to help confirm!

Any chance for a macro lens? Shape and growth pattern looks wrong to be a species of Halymenia.
