Hello: can anyone tell me what this reddish material is on my rock and sand bed? I can’t get rid of it. I’ll clean and do water changes and it’s back within a day. How do i get rid of it?

My grass is growing great. Can I separate/cut it to place pieces around tank or will that hurt it?

Also, weird but cool. I found two red fire shrimp in my rock but I didn’t put them in there and I started the tank with dry/dead rock almost 2 years ago. I did have a cool white stripped shrimp but he disappeared- I don’t think they are related but curious.

Thank you for your input.

Looks like cyano bacteria but could use a closer pic. Chemiclean can work along with a 3 day blackout. Not sure what you mean by grass and neat about shrimp.

Here is a closer picture. It never develops directly under the light. Just everywhere else.

Look up Diatoms and Cyano. I cannot tell which that it is.

I’m with ^ try looking up both of those. Once again I would try chemiclean. It worked well for my tank just make sure to follow the instructions carefully. 3 day tank black out.
