Greetings. This is my first post. I have a IM Fusion 40 reef tank that has been cycling now for almost 3 weeks. Nothing in the tank but algae and possibly diatoms. However, we have had this little guy/gal crop up (and down) from time to time. I finally was able to get a decent picture.

Ideas?

Many thanks!

Welcome to R2R first of all!
I believe it is a Stomatella snail. Reef safe and great addition to a reef tank. Unfortunately, they are not as commonly encountered as hitch hikers on live rock or corals.

Thanks! I had saltwater tanks when I was a kid back in the 70s. Boy a lot has changed since then.
I've always wanted to do fish again, but never really got around to it until recently. My brother and dad have seahorses and a reef tank. Needless to say it got me excited. After doing quite a bit of research and reading the wife got excited. I'm sure in short time the tank will be her's, lol. But hey, then I can get the IM 50 lagoon :).

I'm simply amazed at how peaceful just watching the tank can be...even with just the algae and the occasional critter now popping up. I'm glad I took the plunge.

Thanks for all the input!
