Hi All,
Hoping someone can give me an answer regarding this black growth thing on the stem of some of my Zoa's.

Thanks in advance.

OK, lets start with hello and welcome to R2R!

Now this is just a guess based on the bigger one looking like it has holes or pores in the photo. A better close up would help. Also, are thet soft or hard? Have you tried to pull one off?

My first choice is a sponge. But I'll be honest and admit that from the photo and lack of other info, it's just a semi educated guess.

Lets get some other educated guesses! #ReefSquad

Welcome! Unfortunately, I'm not sure what they are... hopefully you get a few more ideas soon!

Edit. Just a quick search, but found this on another forum... looks similar maybe? This was determined to be some sort of sponge... so, maybe a very good educated guess from @Ron Reefman ;)

I would guess a sponge of some type as well. It's actually pretty common for zoanthids to have sponges growing amongst them.
Welcome to R2R!
