They come out at night and seem to gather along the gravel and glass.

Is this good or bad? How did I get them and how do I get rid of them? I dip all my corals.

Yeah, looks like bristle worms. Good detritivores and add to diversity of your tank, but some people trap and remove them because they are "ugly" Would be good to examine one or two more closely to make sure they are not fireworms which are more problematic.

Been reading that a Dottyback will eat them, but there are so many different Dottybacks. Which one is good to use and will he get along with my 6 line Wrasse

Dotty backs are aggressive before you go adding one make sure it will get along. Its a pain in the behind to catch a fish in a full blown reef. You could look at a coral banded shrimp

I would be careful putting any dottyback in with a six line, especially if you have a smaller tank , IMHO. If you reduce feeding and manually remove detritus that will help limit the number and size of bristleworms if that is what you are trying to do.

My coral banded shrimp put a Huge dent in the population of Bristle worms in my tank. But I agree with what others say they are a good member Of your CUC as long as they are kept under control

Are coral banded shrimp reef save? I have a 6 line, diamond goby, yellow tang, 2 clowns, firefish and 2 Banggai cardinalfish. will they be OK with the coral banded shrimp?

I have never seen mine bother any coral or fish. But I’m sure if they get hungry enough from the lack of food they will go after something small like a snail

OK Thanks so much for your help. These worms creep me out. I'm going to start to siphon my gravel a little at a time. Who knows what's under my rock.

Coral banded shrimp are reef safe. Even if you dip your coral it won’t kill the eggs of the hitchhikers. Bristle works are harmless but are kinda ugly looking, I have best luck catching them at night. Dustin

Use a turkey baster. You can get under the rock, clean off rock and puff the sand bed. It does a great job at suspending the detritus

What are the odds of a Coral banded shrimp having ick or some other disease?
