I found this on the sand bed in the back of the tank, but even after looking through the guide to hitchhikers, I can't tell what it is. It's close to 4 inches long, for size reference.

Thanks for the responses - I was afraid of that... is it likely that there are more fireworms?

Have you had any coral or anything have trouble recently?

I have lost a few euphyllia recently. I found some euphyllia eating flatworms and dipped the remaining corals to try to prevent them from spreading. It's crazy because I dip all corals in Bayer and then Seachem Reef Dip before putting them in the display. Must have missed some eggs at some point.

And I saw a royal gramma this past week that I hadn't seen in months. He was very lethargic, but then disappeared again. I actually thought this may have been his carcass when I saw it. I reached in and picked it up and it started moving so I dropped it and got it out with a net. I guess I got lucky not getting stung!

The LFS owner told me he pulled some kind of worm out of his tank when he moved that looked like a small snake. Could be a fisherman’s tale, but you never know. I’m still for fragging because it’s getting real expensive to be in this hobby. Especially after everything has to be named.

LFS owner could be talking about a bobbit worm, they are fast and can get huge.

Good riddance. I’m glad you caught him. Some of those suckers are tough to find because they are nocturnal and hate any light. Good luck
