Got a frag from someone and a few weeks later these appeared. Now I noticed one by my GSP.

Looks like a vermitid snail. Generally I don't believe they hurt anything. You can break them off but they are hard to totally control.

+1 on Vermitid's, they dont hurt but definitely will irritate corals. They spit mucous out as a web to pull in food particles that irritates the corals, mainly SPS.

Best mitigation is to limit broadcast feeding, other than that you can use a small screwdriver/chisel to remove at the base and crush or super glue the opening.

Those snails are a pain. They seem to appear quickly once spotted. The web like cast off is horrible and gets on surrounding corals. Like reeferwarrant said about super glue to close opening is the only thing I've found to actually work. And of course use gel super glue

Best to eliminate them. Remove by breaking the base of the coral, not middle of tube. other option is to place a dab of superglue gel over the hole of the tube.

From my ignant experience the best way to get rid of them is with aptasia. Like seriously they do have a purpose. But is it worth the infestation? Decisions, decisions...
