Hello everyone. My old live rocks have been curing for about 14 days now in a bleach-water mixture. I thought after the cure this weird layer would go off of this rock but it didn't. Anyone know what this is and if it is harmful? Or should I just use the rock for my tank anyway?
Thanks.

Any chance the rock was in a blue container? Can’t be bacteria or mold, bleach woulda killed it.

That doesn’t really look like the rock we typically use for reef tanks. Also agree that any mold or bacterial growth would be gone in 14 days of bleach. Do all the rocks have the same texture/appearance? It almost looks man made; maybe with concrete and gravel? Are they heavy?

Only this one shelf like rock is like this. The other ones are porous normal rocks. And yes this particular one is heavy and i do think it has some gravel in it as you said. And it is the only one showing this weird colour. What should i do with it?

If that is the only rock like that, I would just pitch it. Why risk it
Well, I really like the shape of the rock, its flat and could be like an overhang for a zoa garden, for example. Someone else mentioned that they have a rock with a similar colour in their tank with no problems at all.

Well in that case, I would try and scrub it, and soak it for a few days in some plain rodi water.
