I know the first one looks like a feather duster of some sort, but I also have small patches of what looks like grass on my live rock. Any ideas? Pictures are really hard to get. I tried to get it with tongs, thought I smashed it but after I dried off my arm and such it reappeared so it’s a work of some sort.

Will defer to others, but to me that looks like a colonial hydroid aka tiny anenome. I'd put F-Aiptasia or putty over it for couple weeks+ to smother. I would not try to scrub it off because tiny bits may regrow. Unfortunately, if my ID is right and you see one, there may be more. On the bright side, people say they clear up on their own (mine haven't... added peppermint shrimp to little avail)

You do see the little patch of hairs then right? There’s a few patches I’ve seen. Are these bad then? Or is alright just to leave them be?

In post #2 above already gave my recommendation how to treat.

yes, see little patch of hairs. Above someone else thinks feather duster. I think colonial hydroid. Basing my hydroid guess on the less defined tube shape/color.

20+ years ago and even today, people consider feather dusters cool BUT now many keep corals in tank, feather dusters are just cool worms. Due to worm part that burrows sometimes into corals, now featherdusters are classified by many as pests.

Colonial hydroids are considered pests. On the bright side, I don't think aiptasia, but if you research aiptasia you'll get info that is similar to colonial hydroids (they just aren't as sting-y).

If the photo was looking straight into it, might be able to give better ID but likely you can't turn around rock to get better photo. (Not like you can ask it, "would you turn this way?" Giggle)

Will defer to others who might better be able to ID based on above photo.

wait... do you mean GREEN hairs... that is algae
I wouldn’t say green it’s just kinda what color I think I see, I can’t really say what color because I myself have to look at kinda of an angle to see the patches. Literally looks like blades of grass. Yes the one I knew was a feather duster but the other pictures don’t look like the feather duster, they look like a patch of grass. Not necessarily green it’s hard to say a color, they could be a grayish I’m not sure 100% on a color. Just thin like grass lol. It’s not algae bc I tried to remove them with tongs n they disappeared into the rock and then returned. My boyfriend says they look white to him.

Is there any way to zoom closer? i don't know; too far away for me
I’m at work right now but I can try n get a better picture when I get home. Maybe if I use the blue light instead. I just wanna know what it is haha I can’t find it online anywhere. This is my first reef tank and it is halfway thru cycling just don’t wanna have a pest issue right as I get started. Would be devastated to lose the tank to a pest.

Thought I’d let yah know I went n got my clean up crew and talked to the lady I bought the rock from. She informed me they are spaghetti worms. Looks just like these ones.

Don’t take my word for this but I remember seeing something on a thread saying if you touch the thing you’re suspecting is a feather duster or aiptasia and it retracts, it’s a feather duster and if it doesn’t, it’s aiptasia. Obviously do your research, and experts, please correct me if I’m wrong. I did this on one of mine and it retracted so it’s a feather duster.

Yes mine retracts too, any sudden movement near it.

... that is too general of statement to be either this or that... not saying you are wrong, just saying more info than just retracting should be used.
