So, what is this and is it bad for my tank? I've spent days reading forums, I can't decipher if it's brown algae or dinos...

My ammonia is 0
Temp 79
N02 appear to be 0
N03 almost look around 40
Ph is in-between 7.0-7.5

The ugly stage , welcome. It should go away if your tank nutrient levels stay consistent

Looks like a very new tank ? The sand is far too clean

diatoms ….
they are part of the ugly stage .
they will go away on their own .
they are consuming silicates

I just went through and cleaned the glass and my magnet cleaner shifts the sand around and it looks clean for about a day lol but it is realistically a new tank, it's only about 2 months old.
