Could possibly be green cyano. Hard to tell under lighting. But if nothings eating it that would be my guess. What is your parameters? And how long are your lights on?

Not sure I can see what you are most concerned about ...

are you referring to the green algae covering your rocks?

Or is there something else you are seeing that I'm not?

Can you please try posting a picture under white lighting?

Oh right ... it's on the sand too ... yep, that looks like Cyanobacteria (I've only ever gotten the deep purple variety so I didn't even think of this when I saw the photo the first time!)

Check out this thread:

Agreed green Cyano.... not the end of the world. And can be dealt with... How long this tank up , stock and parameters as suggested.

Im having a tough time thinking its cyano. Heres some better pics. I pulled out the piece of rock and its still rough like theres nothing on it. Tried to scrape some off with no luck, it doesnt come off. Its really imbedded.

How olds the tank?

This looks like a normal 2-3 month old tank. It will eventually go away as things balance out.

When my tank looked like that I used a “type”of chemi-clean… which was called “red slime”. I know that stuff also kills Chaeto, so it might kill that stuff too.

But like the above post said, probably just a good CUC and time is your best bet, sometimes the less aggressive approach is the best.
