Diatoms, dinos, or algae. Without a better picture and some more info it could be either..

How new is the tank, does it go away with lights out, is it growing or stringy, snotty?

Its not dino and I am seeing either diatom with algae or early stage cyano
Are you using RODI water or tap water from the faucet?
Is tank at or near a window ?

What test kits are you using ?

What is current. . . Phos phate-ph-ammonia-nitrate-salinity ?

Tank was moved from my previous tank, upgraded from 75 gal, to this 120gal Cube tank. It was set up in October 2021. All the water is new from when I moved, but rock is a couple years old. I havn't noticed if it goes away when lights are out. Are you suggesting does it all go away? most of it? I can check tonight. It is stringy, as I can see it sway in the water flow. I have not touched it to know the consistency.

Tank is in the basement of my house. there is a window on the opposite side of the room, but it is closed by blinds and just a small standard basement window.

Here are my current test results.

Phosphate - 0.08ppm (Hanna)
Nitrate - 15.8 Hanna HR
Alk - 11.37 (Trident)
Ca - 610 (Trident) Don't know why this is so high since I don't dose anything like Alk, Ca or Mg.
Mg - 1396 (Trident)
Salinity 34.8 (Hanna Salinity Tester)
I do not have a test for ammonia

I do dose NoPOx 13mls/day

I did recently have what I thought was a cyano outbreak and treated with chemiclean 2 week ago. Since then I have done 4x30gal water changes Q3days. I use Carbon and changed that Q3 days on water changes as my skimmer was going nuts with the chemiclean.

As suspected, window- UV is very strong and will penetrate blinds and shades.
Addition your phos level is enough to support cyano. You want < .04
CA - Holy cow. You want to address this my stopping any addition dosing of CA
Cease NoPox for now as it is fuel for cyano and dino.
- For Phos control, add a pouch of chemipure blue which will lower and keep it in check.
Keep an eye om mag which is approaching high range ( you want 1300)
