What is this?

My guess is that this is a coral of some sort. It looks like a zoanthid. At first I thought it might be an anemone however there's a bud on the stem. This is the first time I've seen it open since I got this particular rock. The tentacles are white currently but hopefully whatever this is can regain zooxanthellae soon.

Think a clearer picture going be needed,your picture just one big blur unfortunately

Maybe clean glass good then have white lights on tank or a flash on phone /white torch light and hold phone to glass to take picture

Here's a better picture. It's not perfect but it's the best I can get. Seeing it from this angle makes me think it's a good anemone. There are a couple of aiptasia on that rock too and a bunch of small feather dusters.

Yeah can see what looks like the foot off an anemone where outlined and the tentacles above.
Unsure what kind but hopefully others can id for you.
Defo not a zoa though and looks like a feather duster behind.
Can see white tips in my zoomed in second screenshot.

Look up majano anemone,see if similar

I thought it might be a majano. I'll have to see. If I had to have a pest anemone though majanos are the most beautiful so they'd be the ones I'd want. I am hoping it's a BTA though.

Majano Anemones

Just got a rock of yumas and was told there are some Majano anemones on the rock. They are tiny and fluorescent green, looks like a mini mushroom. Are they good or bad?

It's from new live rock. I've had this particular rock for a month give or take. Today is the first day I have seen it open.

New anemeone I don't recognize, any chance someone can ID?

This guy popped up in my tank a few months ago (actually two of them, but the other one's significantly harder to get a pic of): I don't really have much else in this tank - a few fish, a toadstool, and what the LFS called a "candy-cane coral", is this new guy related to either one of these...

I believe this is indeed a ball anemone. Time will tell. Once it grows some I'll update this. Assuming it's a ball anemone it's an NPS coral. It's tentacles may or may not color up eventually but it won't have zooxanthellae if it is indeed a ball anemone.

My guess is that this is a coral (though they look like anemones) in the family Corallimorphidae, related to mushroom corals. The ball anemone (Pseudocorynactis caribbeorum) is a common member of this family in the aquarium trade and is nowhere near as invasive as Aiptasia, but the organism in question looks very similar to another member, the strawberry anemone (Corynactis californica). This species is also non-photosynthetic.

Regardless of the ID, if it doesn't rapidly multiply then it's relatively harmless. I have 2 large aiptasia in one tank that have been there over 2 years and have never spread... They're quite pretty!
