One day this just appeared in our saltwater aquarium. No new recent additions. Any clue what it is?

My first thought was 'do you have kids that don't like spaghetti'. Does it move? Is it movable or attached? What other fish, etc are in the tank. I might try taking it out - to get a better sense. Sometimes large spaghetti-type worms can LOOK like this - but not tangled like this. I wondered about eggs - but you would need to have a pretty big fish lol. Any more information

Its sea hare eggs. Seahares are hermaphrodites they need another Seahare to fertilize the eggs. Most eggs won't hatch in captivity for this reason. I've never seen anything in my tanks try to eat them. I would just pull and toss

Its sea hare eggs
It was my impression (I haven't had one) - that sea hares don't last long - and with no new additions, where would they come from? But - you're absolutely correct thats what they look like (or eggs of some kind)

The longest I had a seahare was 8 months. They need lots of algea and different kinds. A well established macroalgea tank /refugium maybe able to keep a lot longer

I have two clown fish, 3 Ps, flame tail fish, a sea hare, brittle star, serpent star, hermit crabs, coral, urchins. Doesn’t appear to move. The fish don’t seem to bother it , it doesn’t bother them. My husband is thinking it’s poop from the sea hare. The sea hare is relatively large.

as others have said - it certainly looks like Sea Hare eggs - and since you have one - that by far makes the most sense.

We have had our sea hare about 6-7 months. We have hair algae and he keeps it at bay. We call him snotty.

That is the next one up on my to read list. :D Have had it open in my browser for 2 weeks now...
It's a wild dream maybe a nightmare from time to time. Lots of great info from wonderful reefers.
