I got this guy in Florida a couple months ago and it was sold as "moon brain". It looks like SPS and not a brain and I haven't had any luck finding info on it searching for moon brain. Any guesses what it is?

Could it be a type of Glaxia?

Do all galaxia have long tentacles? The polyps on this coral are very short. I just stumbled across some goniopora pictures that look similar. The moon brain polyps don't seem to be on a column or stalk like goniopora I've seen in person but I've found a couple pictures online of goniopora without columns. The other thing that seems pretty different between this and goniopora is that this coral is pretty hardy. It hasn't minded being moved all around my tank and it is doing fine in pretty low lighting right now. It did fall on an acan and sting it to death, which seems to be consistent with gonioporas' stinging ability. What do you think?

is it soft tissue and then some polyps or is the area between the polyps hard?

I think the area between the polyps is hard but I will check for sure later. I was thinking it could be a monti too but the polyps are much larger than the polyps on my montis. The polyp size is very close to the same size as the polyps on my meteor shower cyphastrea.

I texted a guy that works at the shop I bought it from and his response was "it is an lps more closely related to the favia and brain coral i believe." It doesn't look like any of the favias or brain corals I've seen though so I'm not sure. Thanks for the help everyone! I might frag this coral this weekend but I'd like to know a little bit more about it first.
