okay i have had my blue tang for about 8 months now and has been healthy and happy for what i have seen i have been feeding it mysis/flakes/brine/nori/nls pellets always soaked with silcone i feed 1-3times a day but for the past 2 months now it has been having problems with the anal fin and caudal fin with it looking jagged edges as shown on the photo below i couldn't really take a picture of mine but just took a normal blue tang and edited it to how close i think mine looks like as for water quality everything is great just calc was a lil off also with sg tank has been up for 1yr and 5months the only thing i added new was a chemi pure elite and a normal yellow sponge for filtration.

Bacterial I believe. What I would do is qt and treat with melafix.

Can be caused by a torn fin or tail from fighting then the bacteria takes over.

Sadly to say i dont have an extra tank to qt nor do i have the money to afford another tank with the extra supplies that i would need note: i am only 17 with not very much cash on me :/ Atm i do have enough for a bottle of melafix though

You could buy a small 10g tank for $10 bucks at Walmart. And just change water daily. Maybe a tiny heater, throw in a piece or 2 of pvc pipe for the fish to hide.
That's your QT.
Also look in craigslist to get a little bigger tank for cheap. Ask your friends locally.

I'm not sure if melafix is reef safe.

Ragged fins aside, is the fish behaving normally? Is it still eating well? Before you do anything drastic you might want to wait a few days and see if conditions improve.

How big is the tank btw?

yea behavior normal eating normal just did a small water change 15% and tank size is 110g and ragged fins have been the same for about 2 months hasn't changed since then just weird how it hasn't grown back.. or any signs of improvement

Could try feeding dr g's antibacterial caviar for a while. Contains kanamycin and it's reef safe just don't feed faster than the fish eats.

X2 I wouldn't worry at this stage. More likely your coral beauty got in a skirmish with it. I wouldn't do anything at this stage and keep a watchful eye on it for serious worsening.

Keep your water pristine, add zoecon or selcon to your food for additional vitamins.
