Hi all,

I purchased a jack o lantern lapto a while back and it looked great. I put it under an overhang and the edges started to die off, so I moved it to a rock in the sand under around 120 to 150 par and it has continued to look worse. My tank parameters are all good, possibly a bit too clean. 0 detectable nitrates and 0 detectable phosphate although I feed heavily. Any ideas? Should I cut off the dead areas and let it grow out from the good area? All other lps sps and clam are happy. This is supposed to be the easiest coral I have! First pic is may 11, second pic is today 2 weeks later.

Thanks,

David

Water to clean? Probably. Is there anything near by that could be stinging it?

If I had to take a guess,, I would say to much light ,,, this coral doesn't need much light ,, I have friends that grow colonies inside a cave ,,, sort of ,, gets only indirect light ,, my colony is out in the open ,,, but its off to the side of my tank ,, with the light coming at it from and angle ,,,

Mine is an Incredible Hulk lepto and I keep it on the side of the rock. When I got it three months ago it was only in the center of that 2 inch plug you see it on. Most of the growth you see is already over the edges of the plug where it receives direct light from an AI Prime HD. I started it in the shade and watched the growth pattern before it’s final placement. It also receives strong indirect flow from a power head placed on the other side of the tank if it helps any.
