What is wrong with my war coral?

I am just full of questions today so bear with me :bigsmile:

Anyway, my war coral has been like this for about a year or so. The centers are still green and it still extends its feeders at night but these sections are bleached. It hasn't spread and is growing like crazy around it. I haven't touched it so I dont know if it is hard or what. I know the mushrooms below it are causing an issue and I am going to remove those two soon. Just trying to figure out what has caused this.

The whole whitish area on the right side doesn't look like bleaching to you? What do you think is happening?

That white area is part of the color of that coral. Here's mine. Just a little darker.

Many war corals have that color mixed in. Looks healthy to me.

Well thank you for the lessons guys. Now I feel like an idiot lol. I had no idea. I thought there was something wrong with it and it was bleaching or something. Learn something new everyday.

same here, glad Im not the only one. I opened this and looked at that photo for a few minutes. Thought to myself, hhhmph, looks good to me.

Wow, I'm glad I read this because I didn't know war corals did that. I have one, (maybe 2 years now) and so far its just deep red with green eyes but if it does something funky like that I won't freak! Thanks.

haha. ill have to post a pic of mine. its small but has all the colors. must be kinda like the baller chalice, if you dont get the "rainbow" section, could take awhile for the full colors to manifest

My son won a frag at a reef raffle probably 5 years ago and he gave me a frag from his. He moved and had to sell his tank but someday he wants a frag from mine which is growing like crazy now. That's why I'd freak if I thought it was bleaching!!!!
