He was doing great for a week after buying him. he started moving around and would close up a bit, open again, and then close. Now he looks like this! What is going on?

Sorry I cant get the picture right side up

That is crazy looking. What is that white thing sticking up in the middle of it? Is that part of the anemone? What kind of anemone is it? What are your water parameters? What kind of light do you have?

I have no clue what the white thing is, that is what I am so worried about :squigglemouth: It is part of the anemone but I don't know what part. I'm thinking its stomach/guts but im not sure. It is a green bubble tip anemone. PH:8.1 Ammonia:0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 8 Salinity 1.024 Temp:78.4 We have a 250 Watt MH

That is an air bubble inside the anemone. Either the anemone exposed to air and got air bubble inside it, or else it got infected by a bacterial that producing gas and form the air bubble (very bad thing)

Well good news, the white bubble looking thing is gone this morning! He moved a bit more last night but is still looking rather upset today. He is hanging upside down near the bottom and his sides are still brown. His actual bubble tips are green but he is not inflated. Last night when he was moving he would go from a section of him inflated to completely limp again.

I wont be home until around 6 tonight but I will check him again then. Water change was done a few days ago (bought the tank a little over 3 weeks ago, but it was set up when we got it, reused all of the live rock and water) Water parameters were monitored until everything was good. Have a few other corals in the tank that seem happy as can be. Though I know anemones are very sensitive

The white bubble thing on him was very soft and flexible. It only had the bubble for maybe 5-6 hours.

I will try and get new pictures of it tonight if it isn't hiding behind a rock

The anemone looks very stressed. Keep a close eye on your parameters to make sure their stable also keep an eye on the anemones mouth is it opened at all?

What does a dead or dying anemone look like? I have no clue how to tell if its dead or not so that I will know when to take it out of the tank

Here he is right now. Sorry the color is way off in this picture. He was hanging upside down off the bottom of the rock so I turned it over to get a better picture. His bubble tips are still green but he just wont inflate and hold himself upright :(

Thank you for the picture! If they are dying, will they still hold onto the rock? or will they let go completely ?

good to know. Mine is still hanging onto the rock this morning....though he is very stretched out and does not look good
