I got this a couple days ago from private party (not lfs)

Unhappy for sure. Parameters? Sand blowing on it?

That torch does not look happy... I'd start by getting it off the sand... maybe place it on a rock or at least on a frag plug/disc on top of the sand.
Can you see the mouth? is it open or closed? Was the torch fully inflated before you bought it?

what are your water parameters? Have you had an LFS double check them for you? sometimes its something simple like a non-functioning refractometer or similar... Another set of testing eyes can often spot something you don't notice.

Does the tank have any other inhabitants or corals? Are they doing OK?

New tank and new water conditions it may be annoyed. Might just need some time to adjust. It doesn't look like its receding or has brown jelly in that picture.

I never actually saw it in its previous tank. Just in the baggy when purchasing from the other party. When I got it home, it’s mouth was open and it was retracted, of course, it was stressed out. I will have to go in a pick it up to see if it’s mouth is still open.

My parameters all look good except I don’t yet own a calcium test. I should order one soon. All other inhabitants are good and seem to be thriving (Duncan, various mushrooms, leather, and clowns)

It has filled out more since the original picture. I will get it out of the sand—I just see so many people with torches in the sand. I was hoping for that placement.

That new pic is looking better. Hopefully it is just settling in.

Your placement on the sand is fine, they just can get irritated if sand is blown/dropped on them, so just watch out for that. The less you touch them, the better, so if that is where you want it, then keep it there and just be mindful of the sand.

Good luck!
