What is your coral $ amount threshold?

Fish and zoas are my weaknesses, though I'm a poor graduate student with a low budget and the most I've spent on a pair of snowflake clowns was $100 and the most on a single coral frag was $50.00.

I've dropped bigger money in the past for chalices. Now I don't spend over $50-60 per frag. Per polyp/eye is for the birds

175 on a bleeding apple scoly. I'd spend up to 500 on a nice chalice or acan. (After my wedding) lol.

Its hard to be an 18 year old high schooler with all the crazy stuff in this hobby! Most ive spent was 290 on a rainbow chalice frag but when I'm older, I'm scared to just think about how much money I will pump into my sickness hahaha

lol dont worry bro im right there with you im 22 my girl is 24 were both going crazy in this hobby, when i run out of money i ask her to buy me stuff. shes my loan shark. lol :P i hate it but sometimes my impulse tells me to pull the trigger. Its all for the best

! i hate when she tells me babe you gonna pay me the $5,000 you owe me yet?!?!?!?

0.o insane @(-_-)@ ::FACEPALM::

I spent $150 for a pair of clowns... I justify it because fish can live 10 plus years and I'm not one to sell/give away my fish ( my kids wouldn't allow it!) so I figure its a long term investment. Of course my female jumped a week after I put them in my DT. ... Left my hood open after feeding....1/2 hour later I found her under the kitchen table. That hurt!! Kids still blame for that one :(

Nothing crazy... A matched pair of SA fancy whites. Now I am kinda stuck because the male is now on its way to becoming female...so I now I have to find a small male to partner with and I can't a single fancy white that is the right size. When I see my 8 year old son looking at the single clown I know the next thing I will hear is " I'm still mad at you!" ( for leaving the hood open) He gets attached to every little critter in our tanks. He tells me... Dad , I would sell all my toys for my fish! Lol :)

At the moment, my max is $50 (and hopefully no shipping), mainly because I'm still so new I'm afraid of killing it. Once my tank and I become more mature (and hopefully I can get some kind of a job), I can consider some more expensive ones.

So far on an average its ranging between $100 to $200 a week. Grant you I might skip a week or two here or there. But its a pretty close number

I used too spend $200 on sps frag easy spend $700 on nice sps pack now my max is like $50 now after buying a house and having baby!
It's just as much fun as when I spent much more on sps now I buy locally from other hobbiest and from frag rack at Lfs that's one thing I love about the hobby u can have a tank on ur budget don't need to be rich

Really depends on what coral is at stake, but I have problems justifying much of any coral when the price starts to encroach on $500-600.

Now if we were talking fish, that would be a higher number than I'd care to admit... And MUCH more subjective.

No more than $40 while I'm still steep on the learning curve!

As with many, its not a matter of price but rather having it survive. To spend $150 or more and be left with a skeleton piece of rock or frag plug can be discouraging as well as painful !!
