Moving fish around from different tanks, QT, after shipping etc. requires you to net them or capture them somehow. Nets can be notorious for injuring fish because they get their gills or other body parts stuck!

I would like to order something that would make moving fish as least stressful as possible. What have you had the best luck with?

Better net, scoops, etc.?

I tend to use Gladware containers...scooping them up against the glass. They are really cheap and can be sterilized....I cannot remember how many fish you have in QT but i usually buy a 4 pack for 6-7.00 and have a spare set on standby.

Python has a pond net that I like. I cut the length of the handle to make it more useable. Otherwise I just use my hand.

I like to herd them with my hands into a plastic bag when ever possible.

I use two small smaller nets. Both of which I get with the very soft fine white net material. Last fish I had to get out my 190 was. 6" purple tang, I managed to get him out with a 4"x6" net. I used a second net in my other hand to herd him into a position to snag him.

I've never had an issue with the white netting material harming any fish. They seem much less inclined to get their gill plates or fins caught in it. The catch is, they can easily see it. (Lets face it, they see every net no matter what it is made of).

I think the best option is catching them in a container, the square collanders containers are pretty good for that. I'm not sure my fish catching-fu is very strong in that regards. I might have to try it next time and find out! :)

When doing TTM I drain the water down low, then use a square colander.
