I am getting rid of my HOB filter and want to add a regular overflow. I have seen some other post that were pointing out flaws with certain brand overflows. If anybody really likes their Overflow please post what brand and/or model you have. I haven't yet drilled the tank so I change models if I need to. I was at lest 2 drains and it to be silent.

Thanks
Robert

I've been using the Eshopps Eclipse S overflow on my 40 breeder and it's been great. Silent and requires very little maintenance :) Comes with a template for drilling and a drill bit! Best piece of advice for this overflow to is if you're installing it on a rimmed tank, put the template on the inside all the way to the top and drill from the inside out, otherwise if you put the template on the outside on the bottom of the trim, it will put the overflow to low and your water line will be visible

I did a lot of reading and research before I went with the eshoppes Eclipse L overflow, I run two of them at half capacity. Silent and sturdy, zero salt creep, made with actual acrylic that is thick. Not some flimsly polycarbonate sheet like some others that bows when water enters it. These things are sturdy, they dont come setup to run bean animal but with minimal efforst you can change the L to bean animal. You can do Herbie on the M. The price vs. Quality = solid product and getting your value at an uninflated price.

Synergy and AquaFX

I’ve been using the eclipse L for a couple of years now, I do like it, it is silent, but mine has started bow about 4 months in, its now about 3/8” bowed out in the center of the box now and I’m starting to considering replacing it. Another thing I don’t really like is how tight it in inside of the box, pretty difficult to clean without pulling one of the stand pipes out, not a big deal but slightly annoying

I switched from the eshopps hang on to the synergy reef shadow 16 inch. Best decision ever, it's low profile, quiet and so far no issues. Been using it about 4 months. Used the hang on for 2.5 years, and surprisingly never had a problem other than just being paranoid about it losing siphone

Its been my experience to have never lost a siphon with eshoppes PF series overflows; atleast not due to me doing stupid things.

I actually still use them when I go on vacation, I leave them primed a little higher than the other overflows and they only kick in if the astronomical anomaly of a chance happens. I have found that keeping one around is more benifit than selling it. Great for uncalculated water changes, you dont have to know how much you made, just toss it in the tank and the same amount comes out.

I recommend Modular Marine
Unfortunately, you cant buy something you cant order. I tried to get one a few weeks back, they are AFK, even thier ebay listings say the seller is not at the helm. Not even thier website lets you order.

They’re probably on vacation for the Holidays and/or replenishing their stock post Holiday sales. They’re known to go offline for a few weeks a couple of times a year. I wouldn’t worry, they’ll be back, probably right after New Years.

Also look at Exotic Marine Systems. Like Modular Marine, their design addresses the issues of noise as a result of running high flows by having the external box at the same height as the internal weir box, thus eliminating the waterfall noise effect.

I built my own, with dual drain outlets. Working with and cementing acrylic is not difficult at all, especially if you have access to a table saw and a drill press. I couldn't imagine spending the big bucks for a 'name brand' item like this. Mine flowed about 1000 gph and was dead silent.

Like many of us, they are on holiday vacation. These are hand crafted, and very much worth the wait. I've had two custom orders from Modular Marine, and the final product was top notch. They will be back up and selling.

Look at it this way. They are being upfront that there's a delay. At least they are not taking orders just for sales, and then processing/shipping when they get around to it.

I like the eshopps eclipse just cause its quiet but i won a tank off here so im selling it in the dry goods forum and it comes with a template and the drill bit 50% off retail

About how many GPH are you running?
