Well my ORP probe has finally settled in. I running right around 350 peak. I think that is a reasonable number. I am due a water change so would it possibly go up with water change? What are most of you seeing with the ORP readings?

373. When I dose peroxide it crashes to half that if not more. Then it comes back up. I stopped paying attention to it. The only time I really loom is when the tank looks funny to me.

Waaaay back when I used to monitor ORP but never saw a correlation between tank health and ORP. Same with pH, stopped monitoring that many years ago. Alk pretty much tells the story to me now. I can almost tell you what the dKh is without doing the test now based on the appearance of the tank.

I never have payed attention to ORP. When I took down my last tank I only measured calcium and alk (I do like to run a pH probe just to watch for something disastrous). Once a tank is dialed in and you have some time under your belt you can tell just by looking at the tank if something is off.

I totally agree on watching the tank!!! I change my carbon when I see the zoas not opening.

Good idea, I'm assuming that seems to helps?I have a harder time with them than any other corals besides rics. They do well for months or years and then some of them with inevitably start closing up/melting.

It does help but the tank is not to the 1 year mark yet so keeping fingers crossed. So far so good!!

mine has been the exact same number since I hooked up my apex. Its the most stable thing on my tank...

The fact that I dont have the actual probe is probably why.

I dont think I'll ever watch this parameter or buy the probe.

Aside from the normal fluctuations with feeding and water change, how much of a downward trend would be too much?? I notice mine trends down when lights come on.
The ORP reading is not what to pay attention to. The upward or downward trend is what to watch

There are no accepted numbers for the trend. I always look at trends to see what the normal rise/fall during the day and week is, then use that as a baseline.
