just set up a new pH probe onto my aquacontroller jr. wanted to see what my tank pH was before i started dosing kalk in my top off water.

after i calibrated it, looks like my tank water is 8.1 with the lights on.

That sounds like a good value. I'd like to get a pH probe to go with my AC Jr. as well. I only have a cr*ppy Red Sea pH test kit so I haven't checked mine in forever, and I wouldn't really believe it anyway.

8.1 is a great value. The pH of natural seawater is 8.2. So long as your pH doesn't dip below 8.0 you shouldn't experience any problems. Getting above a pH of 8.4 will also cause problems, so you're in the sweet spot.

MIne has been ranging from 7.8 to 8.2. I just started running a calcium reactor (can't keep the CO2 bubbles flowing at low output for some reason...). I used to fluctuate between 8.1 and 8.3 (ACIII) before the Ca Rx. I will likely begin adding kalk to my top off soon.
