I found my mandarin dead today and I have no idea why. Hewas the fattest mandarin I have ever seen. With him being so fat why would itjust die? He’s been in my tank for 8months and never had an issue with any of my other fish. All mywater levels are spot on.
The other fish I have are sail fin tang, yellow tang, 2specialty clowns, maroon clown, Flame angel, and a yellow headed sleeper goby.

Was he eating pods or frozen?

"Fat" doesn't mean healthy or even well fed. What size tank do you have? What are your tank parameters, for nitrate, pH? Any measurable ammonia or nitrites? What do you feed, how often? Was the mandarin eating prepared foods?

Manadarins are finicky fish to begin with and hard to keep alive. It could also be possible he "ran out" of pods in the tank

my tank is a 180. i dont have ot readings for my test but everything was good. all he ate was live foods he never would go near any thing but live. i have alots of live rock in my tank as well as in my sump so hes not starving to death. i just seen him yesterday and he looked fine. he was breathing normal and doing what he normaly dose. thats y this has got me woundering what happen.
