I've had the six-line for two weeks. It was doing very well before he went hiding two days ago.
I saw him breathing hard this morning and then he was gone after a couple of hours.
Unbeknownst to me, he had a large wound on one side of his body.
I just don't think any fish in my tank could have done this:
Midas blenny, lyretail anthias, tiger goby, coral beauty, green mandarin, large cucumber

Any ideas what could have caused this?

That's a good one hard to tell if your clean up crew started eating it at this point or not. #reefsquad @Humblefish

I don't have any crabs or shrimps in the tank. Just a handful of snails including the babylonia (tiger) kind.
I didn't see any snails next to the wrasse. This was during peak lighting period.

Sixline wrasses are very pretty fish but they're probably one of the nastiest and problematic fish over time in the home reef. Truthfully it might've done you a favor by dying before you wanted to kill it yourself.

Babylonia, as you're probably aware, is a predator. If the wrasse were weakened, it may have taken advantage.

I didn't realized the snail would even attempt to eat a fish that was still alive (but weak).
Would the snail be able to grab and eat a small wrasse that sleeps in the sand?

Babylonia snails killed one of the male of my pipefish pair when I first got them, Now I'm left with a female

I'd get rid of the snail they also eat Clams and other snails
