So my fish died recently due to an ich outbreak. Lost 4 maybe 5 in total. One is missing. Been missing since before the outbreak but besides the point. Ever since the outbreak killed all but one of my fish off I’ve had this algae growing real bad on my sand. Any ways I can have a cuc soft through it without having any fish? Gonna keep it fallow or I guess this one fish that didn’t get it in here for a while before I add any more fish. It’s like orangish even in white light. Is it just thick diatoms or something bad?

Here’s a white light photo. Got coralline growing on the rocks now. Hasn’t been going on for too long but I see spots popping up all over.

Easiest way to determine diatoms is move some water around it, moves like dust diatoms.

The green can be any number of micro algae’s How long has the tank been up? I would treat like cyano test no3 and po4, make the required water changes or additions if low, make sure theres enough flow, and lighting is around 8-9 hours long.

Tank has been up for almost 7 months now.

Honestly I’m not worried about the green I kinda like it. It’s just the brown on the sand. Rocks are completely green coralline starting to grow. No3 should be pretty low since all but one of my fish are gone and he’s so small he has no footprint. Sand has been nice and clean up until the fish dissapeared.
