What kind of algae is this?

I have this growing everywhere now....
Its Purple and looks like hair algae...
I scrape most what I can but it grows back...
Some its between the zoas... How can I remove this?

Is I really fragile? Does it just disintegrate when you touch it?
If so, it might be cotton candy algae.
In any case, probably have to starve it of nutrients.

Phosphates reads 0
I use a low range Milwaukee tester

Not really! I have to scrape to tak it off and comes back again...

I'd be getting a Urchin or Sea Hare in there if it keeps coming back with that low of nutients.

oh id like this challenge after the other methods let it grow to mass proportions, we can predict nearly to the day when it will die. your invader is still rhodophyta even though the genus is different from this one below, but the timing isn't. 9 days. from invaded to non invaded

Got a sea hare and tuxedo sea unchin yesterday. They pass right on top of it and doesnt eat it.

So sorry it's in your fine tank ! I know removed treatment sounds terrible and it is exhausting, try one single test rock is all I can offer.

Lift one out

Put peroxide from a brand new bottle right on a red algae test spot and let it sit in the air cooking for 3 mins then rinse and put back


Algae turns hot pink in 36 hours

Begins to die day 9

It has to be another way to kill this thing. Removing the corals and anemone its almost impossible.
Its the rock on the left side where the leather coral is.

It's not as big and daunting as I thought and your invasion isn't bad!!! We are acting early enough

So, search online anywhere to see how your algae was beaten in tank

If nothing comes up I'd love to fix that up at your work expense we'd simply have to remove it section by section and we can do it with no cycling or recycling or mini cycling or quasi cycling

I already searched a lot. I already bought urchin, sea hare. Snails, crabs, something is feeding these things. My cheato grows quick.. Po4 reads 0 because this algae is feeding the po4 in the tank.

I disagree 100% on any nutrient being at play in any way this will grow in any tank it's imported into. If po4 is considered the causative and you can strip it further without hurting those corals give it a go and post back but I strongly recommend not


Before considering any action even mine, find and link a thread where your specific algae was beaten using any method you are considering
