Hi,
This algae is just green, not slimy or hairy. What should I do to get rid of it? Too much light maybe?!
Water parameters are as follows,
Ammonia 0
NO2. 0
NO3. 0
PO4. 0

Looks like the beginning of purple corraline algae. Is the tank pretty new?

What light do you have? My tanks used to get like that with a lot of white light.

New tanks go through funny algae phases. It's well documented. Be patient keep doing what your doing.
I bet you have t5's. thats great. corraline is coming in fine.

Sorry for the terrible pic but here is a new rock I added to my frag tank that used to look just like yours. Near fully encrusted in coralline now only a month later.

Coralline algae is the good algae. It likes low light. If you want it to die off add more light.

@Hogan I have the Current USA Orbit Marine LED and use one of the pre-programmed light settings.

So purple Coralline algae starts off as green? It'd be great if all of those turn purple.

I was wondering if you were talking about the pink/purple encrusting or the green dusting. You can't do too much about that green algae. It's almost like it is embedded in the rock itself. But don't worry, the coralline algae encrusts right over it. Just don't increase your light levels like someone else said and the coralline will take over. Bright light causes coralline to die back quickly or turn really pale.

I currently have the orbit marine pro as well. It's a good light for softies and lips but if you ever want to start growing SPS or some demanding LPS you'll want to upgrade like I am this christmas

Ah I see. Right I've been talking about the green stuff actually lol o_O
So even my Orbit Marine LED would be "too bright" for the Coralline algae?
