Can you get a better pic? Sorta looks like either, Dino, diatoms or cyano. It would also help if you could post your params.

I’m not sure how to take good tank photos at the moment.

Numbers look good. How long is the tank been running? New sand could be diatoms. Been running a while probably not. Next maybe cyano or Dino. Is there only that small patch or other showing in other areas? Does it disappear at night and comeback with light?

The little strands with bubbles kinda look more like Dino, but let’s hope not

It absolutely goes away at night and comes back when lights are on. I set the tank up December 2, 2018. What should I do to fight it?

Sounds like Dino. I would get a uv sterilizer since it seems the Dino goes into the water column at night.

I have started a treatment plan. Raised PH and trying dr Tim’s products. Seems to have helped. If I need to I’ll invest in a good UV

If you need to take better photos of your tank with lighting look into getting a coral view lens from polyp lab you can attach it to any smartphone and makes a huge difference. From the look of it could be Dino’s. You might want to do a three days lights out. And run some carbon . When o had a bad Dino outbreak. I scrubbed the algae off the glass and used a brush to get it off the rocks did a 25% water change and tried to suck out as much of the algae as I could . I then cleaned out my one sock filter and the media basket and replaced with new media along with doing a carbon change on my media reactor. After three days lights out all the Dino algae was gone and never came back !

Thanks for the tips! I’m about to try Dr Tim’s refresh/waste away system. It has lights out as a part of it. The lens looks really cool

Your photos will be a lot better if you don't turn on your blues, only daylights.
